Hero Maestro Edge has the wherewithal to stand on its own in a competitive market.

The Maestro Edge is the first scooter from the Hero MotoCorp stable, after its separation from Honda and this new set of wheels don’t fail to impress! This simply means that Hero is heading in the right direction where their scooters are concerned.

The Look:

Maestro Edge diverges sharply from the age old Activa-inspired design of Hero scooters. Giving it a fresh look with a fresh design is the strong USP of this scooter, what with its sharp body curves, especially on the sides, front black treatment, black alloy wheels, stylish rear view mirrors, a totally new exhaust design and an excellently designed rear end with eyeball-catching LED taillights gives this scooter a class of its own. It seems as if a race bike design has been superimposed on a commuter-level scooter!

The Console:

Its analogue-digital instrument console comes packed with many features. It has a side stand indicator, service due indicator, an engine immobilizer, an external fuel filler, LED tail lamps, a little light inside the storage bay and even a USB 3.0 charging point for electronic devices!

The Performance:

It is the performance of this scooter that sets it apart! The single cylinder, newly developed 110.9cc engine produces 8.31 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 8.3 NM @ 6,500 rpm. The gearbox is automatic.

The Ride:

The new body frame and steering design gives a huge edge to the Edge that has created panic in rival camps. The new platform on which the Edge is built works wonder in placing this scooter a niche above the rest. The scooter handles really well and a lot of it has to do with the way the suspension is set up.

The Consumption:

The bike gives a mileage of 65 kmpl in the city and more on highways.

The Comfort and Safety:

The 130 mm drum brakes on both the wheels provide good safety to the scooter, as the integrated braking system enables engaging both the brakes with a single brake lever. Providing stability is the suspension system comprising front telescopic forks and the rear single hydraulic shock absorber. A longer 1261 mm wheelbase and ground clearance of 155 mm adds to the safety of the scooter. It also comes with a next generation immobilizer for safety against theft. The ‘service reminder’ feature is a handiest innovation that does away with having to remember it.

Variants:

The Maestro Edge comes in two variants: LX and VX, with VX having more features and options.

Seven lovely shades to choose from: Techno Blue, Shooting Night Star, Matte Blue, Matte Vernier Grey, Panther Black, Candy Blazing Red and Pearl Silver White.

The Cost:

The bike with electric start and drum brake is priced Rs.53,800

The Verdict:

A smart design, impressive features, an efficient and powerful engine, outstanding ride quality and its within-reach cost works in favour of the Edge. This is a not-be-missed scooter for the scooter aficionados. You must now be very well aware of the scooter and its features, now let’s say something about its reception in India. The scooter is praised very well by all the customers, and is clearly evident from the fact that it is giving a very tough competition to its competitors in this range, and mostly is winning every battle that comes in its front by defeating each of its competitors by a very big margin. Hero is a leading brand and name in the automobile sector. Hero is known for its economical bikes which have quite distinct features and stylish looks. This series from Hero gave this company a steep boost.
