Pargat Singh is a hockey player who was born on 5th March 1965 in Jalandhar, Punjab. He is a hockey player who is now turned into a politician. He belongs to the ruling ShiromaniAkali Dal, which is in Punjab. He was a former Indian Hockey player who was considered as the world’s best defenders erstwhile. He was also the captain of the Men’s hockey team at the Barcelona Olympics in the year 1992 and Atlanta Olympics in the year 1996. Pargat worked as a Superintended police before he joined the Congress Party on Monday. He later met the Punjab Congress President Captain Amarinder Singh, and discussing the formalities to join the party.
Paragt Singh was a famous Indian hockey Player who was considered as the world’s best defender. In the year 1985, he performed superb against Germany and scored four goals in the last six minutes. He was one of the best Indian Hockey Players. The match was a draw but he won the hearts of everyone. Later in the year 1986, Paragt repeated his same charisma against Holland and Indian won the match by 3-2. His hockey career was tremendous and he won the Padma Shree Award in the year 1998 and Arjuna Award in the year 1989. He is also the vice president of the Surjit Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament Society of Jalandhar. After his hockey career he joined politics. He was nominated as the SAD nominee for Jalandhar Cantt Legislative and he won the seat. He also formed Aawaaz-e-Punjab along with Navjot Singh Sidhu and Bains Brother. The political party was formed to fight against those who were working against their state, i.e, Punjab. Pargat was also one of the 42 MLA’s, who had put his resignation to protest for the decision taken by Supreme Court of India, where they were deciding to terminate the Sutlej-Yamuna Link water canal unconstitutional. Pargat Singh recently joined the Congress National Party. He will soon meet the President of the Congress Party and will complete all his formalities.
