The former Indian cricket team fast bowler named Zaheer Khan has been announced as the captain of the Delhi Daredevils team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket playoffs in 2016. Last year, the captain of the team was South African all-rounder cricketer J.P. Duminy.
He is capable of swinging the new ball as well as can reverse the old one. He performs very well on the flat subcontinent grounds. He is able to control all three kinds of balls i.e. SG, Duke and Kookaburra. He was usually compared to one of the best fast bowler of Pakistan team, Wasim Akram.
However, this year will be Zaheer’s subsequent consecutive year as a player with the Daredevils IPL franchise. He was a renowned left arm fast bowler in the national cricket team of India. The next ninth season of the IPL matches will be going to start from April 9, 2016, and end on May 29, 2016.
The team mentor of the daredevil’s team is former Indian cricketer Mr. Rahul Dravid. After the appointment of Zaheer Khan as a captain, he gave away a statement. He said, “Zaheer has been a frontrunner for long past time. Anybody who has trailed the Indian cricket will surely identify the influence Zak has had. He always proved himself as one of the best leaders.”
Zaheer khan, who is currently 37 years old, takes retirement previous year from the international cricket tournament. He had played 92 Tests matches and gets 311 wickets in total. He also took away 282 wickets in 200 one-day matches as well as also played for India in 17 T20 Internationals. After knowing the big news, Zaheer got very excited with his new role in the team. He said, “It is a big respect to head the Delhi Daredevils team in IPL”.
